Flames and a transformer emblem? This reminds me of a Civic from 2000. Did you use a CPL to remove any reflections? These seem very flat as well. Nice try though! Keep at it.. -Chris-Website

(Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link. just woke up to negitivity.. it just amazes me how one group will say looks good and another will say garbage. I think folks get too set on what people think are the rules of photography, when it fact there are no rules. and you shoot where and when you can with the gear you have. and its hard to convey any shoot with just 2 photos.. I know what I'm talking about and if you can't take criticism then don't post on a public forum. The truth is; the colors are bland and flat, the angles were boring, the crops were tight, and the background was busy. Last time I checked, those were priorities when shooting anything. You say we're too set on rules of photography yet I actually think you're not set enough? Take this with a grain of salt and learn from those who are actually decent at this. and maybe one day you will be. -Chris-Website

oh I have been on forums for along time and know you hve to just take in some info and throw other info out.. I shot what I had available to me in the time that i had. I am looking for the epic location around here, but till I find it and till the leaves come back on the trees the backrounds are going to be less then perfect by some standards. I do thank you for the cc. ill post an edit of what I would want but dont have here.. Canon Rebel XTi

We don't make excuses when the shoot isn't good, we accept that it wasn't good, look for the mistakes and learn from them so next time the photos will come out better. I've spent hours and hours of my own time driving and scouting different locations for what I'm shooting so I'm prepared and know what works with what. This is called being prepared. -Chris-Website

Feb 20, 2011 23:44 | #13 aemravan wrote in post #11881730 i cant see images 3-6 Yes, having a pretty location helps out a lot when trying to make photos more interesting, but we aren't always in reach of such places, i know i sure as hell dont leave out in cali, or somwhere in the desert with awesome landscapes, i live in NC and we too have trees. That doesnt mean that you can shoot around it. Dont take what people say to you here as an insult, they are just pointing out bare facts that will make your photos better. I can tell you that I am by no means a professional photographer, but i have photographed a handful of cars and have had shots that are great, and others that made me want to hang myself. Gues what made the bad shots bad? not following the rules of pohtography that you say are not important. Sure, there are always exceptions to the rules, but it is very rare that you see someone pull off a nice capture by breakin the rules. The one thing you have to be able to do when trying to sharpen your skills is point out which of your photos are bad, and even more importantly, why are they bad. In both of the above shots that I see, it looks as if you wanted that bare tree of on the right in the image, you say there is no way around it, but the shots prove otherwise, I think the captures would have been much better shot a bit off to the left. Dont forget that you are shooting a vehicle that drives, you can move it, turn it, place it however you want and always work around the short-comings of the background. Car shots can be really fun and rewarding, but not if they look like simple captures, get on the ground, turn the wheel, find a new angle to shoot it from. I'll leave you with one last word of advice: If you say these images are perfectly fine and there is nothing to be fixed, this is as good as your photography skills will get. You will not progress until you are able to point out and accept your personal faults 3 and 4 should be above now.. I did move around and crawl around to get lower shots. as for the bare trees, it was eiterh those or power lines to the far left out of frame so i settled on the trees. I know theses shots could be better, and I do appreciate the comments. I have been schooling and shooting long enough to understand when things dont go well, and these certainly didnt qualify. Ill admit I dont shoot cars much so I dont have locations scouted, . to note I have photochoped a few backrounds and transformer concept art on a few from this set, and they look awsome.. I'm sorry if you're taking my comments as insults but I'm not going to praise shots that could be taken with a point and shoot. Even a little editing could bring out the smallest detail and make it pop from the bg. Next time have thicker skin or don't post at all. This place is filled with knowledge and until you admit that you're lacking in that, then you'll never progress further than the shots above. Where is the "Like" button....
