I was playing around with my camera yesterday and I took this shot of my wife in our living room. It was nothing special just a snapshot but I thought I would use it to practice some skin retouching.

Here is the original photo.

Here is the retouched.

It might not be obvious in these so I am also uploading some closeups of the face. I tried to retouch the photo without losing the skin texture and without looking like it was overly retouched. I would love to hear thoughts and comments on the retouch. Is it overdone? Not enough? something else that needs to be done or something needs to be done differently.

Nice. I like how you left enough skin blemishes to keep it realistic. There's a few spots that tend to look like blurring, but overall a good effort. The face looks a little magenta. Was that intentional?

The flickr upload looks more magenta then the photoshop file. Usually I can get a good conversion I noticed it after I uploaded it. I might try exporting it again.

I would say you did well, on the crop photo the edited version looks good. Natural looking.

I think you did good work! The image looks neater and cleaner but you haven't drastically changed anything about her looks. You've kept it pretty real.

I think you successfully walked the thin line of retouching her to look like her best self, and not overdoing it. I might also burn the hotter area of her forearm to tone it down a bit. nice job.

Thanks for all the comments, she was really happy with it too. I did try and burn that arm a little but the skin is totally blown there so it will take some actual painting to get the color back and such. Thanks again.

Tried fixing the exported color versions of the photo looks less magenta but appears a bit too yellow now. EDIT:Ok I think I finally got the color to export correctly.
