The 135L doesn't need a replacement or upgrade. It is a wonderful lens as is. Canon won't replace it just because its an older design.

Well I just got one and shoot with it side to side with a 100mm L IS and the
70-200mm L IS II. The 135 imo lacks IS and corner performance wide open
is not as good as the center. And since wide open is where this lens will
be shot most of the time (otherwise I would use the 70-200) I see a reason
to upgrade it. In fact I would buy an updated version that had IS and a
somewhat better corner performance (on fullframe) even if it costed as
much as a 85mm 1.2 L II.

I'd buy an optically better 135/f2 or faster with IS as well - maybe the rumoured Sigma version will be out first.

I'd like to see IS added to it, that'd be nice. Otherwise, no... but there are many things that need to be updated before the 135L. Age of the lens isn't the best determining factor for updates.

With the 70-200 covering that range for most purposes (and just as sharp as the 135L), the 135L still being an outstanding optical performer and fast-focusing lens for those who really need f/2, and no Nikon prime in that focal length range that's even better to tempt people away, there's no reason for Canon to replace it.

Yeah, for Canon there is not. But for some of us there is. I want the 135mm f/2.0 with IS!

It's already ahead of the competition.

I'd much rather an updated 16-35, or even a 14-35, or an updated TS-E 45 and TS-E 90, or a 36-50MP body, or something else that leapfrogs the competition, rather than an update to something that Canon's already leading the pack in.

It appears Sony's 135/1.8 has sped up Nikon's new 135. Wonder when Canon will do the same, hopefully with the inclusion of IS.

PLEASE Canon make me a 135mm 1.8 :p
IS would be nice but new optics with weather sealing and 1.8 would be a BIG PLUS!

I'm good with the current 135L for now. It's time for Canon to address real issues in their lens lineup like the 35mm f2 and 50mm f1.4.

Tools: 70D, 10-22, Tamron 24-70 VC, 70-300L, 135 f2L

No need for an upgrade to this lens.

The only update I can imagine is adding IS, and would you want to double the price for that?
