Pulled the trigger on a used 400mm F5.6L from KEH. It was $90 more than the 8+ version at B&H but the it was listed as EX on the KEH site.

B&H sold the 400mm I was looking at. Did not see a used one on Adorama's site.

Just returned home from a business trip and had a box from KEH with my 400mm F5.6L waiting for me!!

I have to admit that so far, I am disappointed. I guess everyone has their on grading scale but to me, a lens in EX (excellent) condition would not have several small paint chips and a fairly large scratch on the plastic that surrounds the front element. Clearly it was dropped, without the lens cap, at some point. I will post pictures later today.

Anyway, shooting a soccer tournament this weekend so I will see how it performs. Far more interested in the pictures that it produces than how it looks. The fact that it was clearly dropped does have me concerned.

I have bought used from both Adorama and B&H.. I think B&H is a little better when it comes to returns, but they both are excellent companies to deal with...I wouldnt't hesitate to order anything 8 or better from either place.

B&H are fine people and used is a good idea. They will take it back if you are not happy. I usually look at KEH first for used.

I've bought used from both. They are both top-notch companies.

All used items from Adorama come with a 90-day warranty, which includes a 30-day returns period if you simply change your mind.
Any problems, you can, as always, email me directly: HelenO@adorama.com (external link)
