Getting used to these two lenses. The 85mm has been microadjusted to the 7D, but the 50mm is straight from factory. Both Sigma lenses are doing a great job with focus accuracy and being fast enough to focus on the players with the 7D.

All shots are at f/2, 1/640 and ISO 2500. No NR on any shots. I'm too lazy to schedule and run that final task anymore.

1. My "shot of the night." #22, Larry Nance Jr., is the son of former Cleveland Cavalier Larry Nance from the mid-late 80s. His clean block on #32 was called a foul which turned things into a very close game for our home (white) boys.

2. Scoring leader during loss for the home team. Love the box out by #32 which led to an easy layup for 22

4. And another of #22 loading up for a baseline drive

5. This is a complete full frame shot with the Sigma 85mm

6. This has become a signature shot for the kids. They love this shot

7. And a couple from the JV game. This kid should blossom into a good player. Fearless going to the basket and a total 'energy' kid on the floor.

Thanks for looking. This season is winding down quickly with tournament games beginning next week. Not looking for our guys to play more than 1 or 2 games tops. The team above is 12-0 in our conference and 19-1 overall. Our guys pushed the blue team to within 2 points in Q4, but lost by 5 when they had to foul down the stretch.

Definitely peak action shots and congrats on the captures. I shoot a 7D as a backup camera at ISO 2500 and they look like mine do without NR, which can be a pain sometimes so I know how you feel. My only little nit is the snaps are a bit on the yellow/green side and could use some desatuation but besides that, very nice.

Agree. Two things: 1) I neglected to shoot my whi-bal card before the game. 2) the gym is old, has a really 'yellowed' floor and a floor-to-ceiling faded red tarp I'm sitting up against in shots 1, 3, 7 & 8. Color cast from both is something that can't be white-balanced away sometimes.

Thanks for the kind words on the shots. Love the kids. Love the environment. Lots of fun on winter nights where, 'what the heck else am I going to do?'

My son (football player) graduates this year, so I've shot my last HS football game and soon will shot the last HS basketball. Time to move on to something else related to photography.

That's not a box out in #2 ;) that's probably an illegal screen since the shot isn't up yet. Of course without the whistle blowing it's all clean. Wish we had crowds like that for basketball.. I get a lot of empty bleachers in shots most of the time.

EOS 7D Sigma 70-200 F2.8 (1.4 extender outdoors) are the workhorses. 50D for backup, EF 70-300MM USM f/4-5.6 IS, Freelance photographer for local newspapers and my website viewthroughmylens.net (external link)

I think you may be right on the illegal screen call, or he somehow 'got in the way' of the defender by accident!

Weather permitting, our local HS gets great support. Stands were pretty full Friday night to see our guys play against the conference powerhouse. 12-0 in conference, 18-1 overall. Our guys gave a great effort and a close game. They always do.
