Its my annual trip to the States again and I want to buy lighting equipment ( instead of golf clubs) this year.

I already have funds for the 5D2 (or 5D3 if available) and a lens, (the 24-70).

I want to be more focused on photography this year, and its time to buy some lighting gear. I really think I am going to have to go strobist to get stuff into my suitcase.

Things I need are:
1) more flashes--I can buy 2 as I have a 430 EX already
2) Umbrellas, softboxes,snoots ,etc.
3) stands for the flashes
4) Muslins (maybe just black and white this year).
5) Remote Flash triggers--Pocket Wizards,Cactus, etc.

Im asking for suggestions on what to get, and if possible a kit to put in one suitcase. I think British Airways allows 50kg's for weight.

But really any advice will be appreciated.
My spending money is $5,000 for the whole trip, I surely hope this stuff doesnt go past 1,000 usd.

Im really open to any company, Im not biased to anyone. Thanks .
A.D.

Headed back to IL?

Any thoughts on studio strobes, like Alien Bees, etc.. or is it mainly flashes?

Yup, coming back to Illinois--after the snow is gone.
I think I better stick with flashes for now. Unless there is something that can fly back to Africa with me?

Elinchrom Quadra is a pretty impressive kit that you can travel easily with.

I'd go with a single (or double if it fit's into the budget) Quadra set, 2 x Nano Stands and a Foldable brolly box.
