I got a pretty interesting purpose this week: give away my gear, that consists of:

Canon 7D + 580 EX II + 17-55 IS + Tokina 11-16 + 70-200 2.8 IS + 100 macro + 400L + Sigma 150-500 + 85L

for a M9 with the 50mm 1.4 and the 35mm something.
Now, I had to turn it down because I'm almost always into wildlife and AFAIK, Leicas don't have any lens for that.
But what about you guys?
Would you give away everything you got for a Leica with two lenses? And why?

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

For a Leica S2 I would, but for a Leica M9 and lenses I wouldn't.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I would jump in a heart beat. In fact my next camera is going to be an M9. I'll still keep my Canon gear. M glass is some of the worlds finest. Did you read this review by a real Canon geek?

If it were the current version of the 50/1.4 Summilux, definitely. If not, it'd be a close call...

Already have a Leica, a much older film variant, so no need to switch, but that said, rangefinders in general aren’t for most photographers, and folks should be aware of this before diving into a Leica M9.

No. If I had $8-9k of gear like you and was given the opportunity to swap for $12-13k worth of Leica gear? Maybe; depends on the resale value of Leica gear. Would I learn to use a Leica and two lenses if they were given me with no strings attached? Definitely.

Hell yes! I would give away my kidney for a M9. When my equipment is worth as much as an M9+Lens I am going Leica!

Canon is great but I shoot street and I would love a FF rangefinder!

Absolutely. Then I would buy a video camera to fill the video void.

The next purchase would be a noctilux.

No, but that is because I shoot a lot of things that are poorly matched to a rangefinder.

I'd love to own an M9 and I could probably sacrifice my wider end lenses for it (which would still leave me short several thousand dollars) but I would have to retain an SLR or give up on a lot of stuff that I shoot.

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII

I've never tried a rangefinder camera, so I don't know whether I'd like it or not. But for whatever reason, I would be more interested in trying a Mamiya medium format more so than the rangefinder.

I voted No. I do not believe the M9 and two lenses would match or extend the range of what I have now.
