Just curious if anyone has ever gotten the full frame "Bug" and then went back to a crop camera and why?

I did it multiple times last week... And this week already... I'm switching back from FF to Crop constantly.
I have both of them.

If only reason for my photography would become in chasing of hummingbirds, I would sell my 5D and 500D to get 1D.

;)

As it was said before, each has it's purpose. I have the 5Dc and 7D. I use the 7D for reach and the 5Dc for formals and portraits. I am however digging the 7D more and more due to its forcusing but have not found a walkaround lens that I like and not willing to spend 1K for the 17-55 2.8. I will not trade my 5Dc unless the new FF body has a new focusing system at least on par with the 7D

What's wrong with your Tamron 17-50 as a walk around lens?

It is a sharp lens but has a noisy motor.

The 1.3x crop bodies are a nice balance to me. They cut off the worse part of most lenses and offer
the high speed option for FPS. You lose a bit on the UWA side of things but my 16-35 is still really nice
on my 1D4 and 1D2. I am really glad Canon kept the format around.

I like this thread, it reinforces the fact that I don't need a FF for what I shoot!

I never shot with a cropped camera before so I wouldn't know what its like. For me I don't shoot things far away and I am more into macro and landscape so its always been FF for me. Even if I shoot waves/surfing my FF and a 70-200mm f/2.8 or 300mm f/4.0 is more then enough reach for me. I don't think I would ever go to a cropped camera body.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I never switch to FF or crop, I use them both and love them both. FF is for landscape, macro, portrait, and architecture, crop is for sports and wildlife. That's what I do with my camera.

I shoot mostly events/concerts/people.

Switched to FF and never looked back. I recently bought a 7D to add to the 5DII, thinking it would add more versatility to my lenses and I really need a second body. It appears to be just the opposite and requires far more thought when choosing/switching lenses at a shoot. I also shoot most of the time at ISO 1600/3200 and I am not satisfied with the 7D's high ISO performance. I must say I do like the 24L's focal length on the 7D. It's making me think about buying the 35L. I will most likely be selling the 7D and picking up another FF.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I find the 1.3 crop of the 1D3 and 1D4 series to be perfect. It's almost full frame, yet you get some of the benefits of the crop cameras.
