I had some pictures taken at a wedding and the sunlight completely washed out peoples faces. I tried a few programs to edit them, but never could get it looking right. I've seen the amazing work that some of you can do and wondered if it was possible for you to fix them. If somebody could help me it would be greatly appreciated!

Good luck. You would have to use layers and fix the bad areas and then blend. There are no better pictures of this?

Hopefully nobody paid you for this.

The best that you can hope for is if you have other images with these same folks>do some selections>move those selections into the offending images, and you better pray that they were shot in RAW format.

Hi,

Nobody paid for this. Older people took the pictures and weren't familar with digital cameras. If anybody could please fix them, I'd really appreciate it. I tried but was unable to get them looking very good. I am very new at Photoshop.

Thanks

Were they shot in RAW (maybe partially fixable)? If jpeg...no hope.

Without a lot of Photoshop trickery, I'd say offhand that the best you can do with these is to make the bright areas turn grey, because they are simply too blown out to recover anything useful.

If you want to check this out for yourself, try opening on of the images in Camera Raw by right-clicking on it and choosing Edit in Camera Raw.

With the image open, you can drag the Exposure slider all the way to the Left and see what happens to the brightest area. Unless there is a lot more than appears, they will probably just remain white. What this means is that the most you can do is to "brush" them to a darker grey, or to use some elaborate Photoshop "magic" to actually paint them with some kind of skin tone.

Try that and then ask yourself if you are willing to learn some Photoshop so that you can take a shot at this task. Are the photos worth the trouble to you? If not, then, well...

They are Jpeg's. I just wanted to see if any of the guru's were able to make only the faces more visible, doesn't matter if it is more grey or anything. Just wanted the faces to be recognizable if possible or anything that any of you could possibly come up with would be appreciated.

Do you have other photos of the people with the blown out faces? These images don't contain enough information to produce anything usable but it would be simple to transplant some properly exposed faces.

If you can post the full-resolution images (all that are available), I'd bet you'll get some help. (If you don't know how to post the images on a file sharing site, let us know.)

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

Had a play with these last night, and has been stated the images are so far blown that nothing useful can be gotten from them as they are. Best bet would be to try and replace the heads/faces with correctly exposed ones. Not much hope of recovering much from the images posted.
