good question. i've been hearing about a lot of fakes out there. pretty scary when considering these could be used for paid shoots.

are these bulk packaged cards really from sandisk?

I would only buy cards from reputable stores. If the price is much cheaper than what someone like B&H or Amazon would charge, it's probably a fake. If it's not much cheaper, then why not go with a reputable dealer to begin with?

I bought several 4gb SD cards from amazon that were 'bulk.' I was looking for cheap, as they were for a school-based photography club. They all seem to be working fine. They were in packaging like this:

The one's linked to in the first post are not being sold by Amazon, they are just being fulfilled by Amazon.

Were yours also sold by BlueProton or were they actually sold by Amazon? They seem to get either 1 star or 5 stars on resellerratings.com, so there's no way I'd buy from them:

i would stay away from bulk packing...the price difference is so small and its worth the peace of mind knowing you have a genuine retail version.

This one isn't sold by Amazon or Blueproton, but by another company called eTech. Amazon only provides the fulfillment process (they make a profit) and doesn't guarantee that any of the non-Amazon stores are reputable.

eTech may be an excellent store, but anyone buying from a non-Amazon store needs to thoroughly check the seller on sites like resellerratings.com to ensure you're not going to have a problem.

The only Sandisk SD card that Amazon sells is this one:
