A shot I took for my project 365 (external link) today. C&C welcome. Shot is clickable if you'd like to see it a bit larger.

the picture quality is nice and the idea is ok its just a little boring. i like to shoot toys as well but most of my scenes try to tell a story. btw that's an amazingly articulated toy there. how big is it and what brand is it?

Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm planning on using Spidey for the whole of March on my 365 and I have a few ideas for situations I can put him in, just trying to figure out how best to shoot him at the moment.

Yeah, he is really cool isn't he? The articulation really is amazing, and is the reason I got him. Should be able to get a real range of different shots of him. Apparently there's sixty seven points of articulation, even each finger has three joints. He's eighteen inches tall and he's made by Toybiz and I think it was to coincide with either the first or second Spiderman movie. Picked him up quite cheap on ebay last week.

Nice photo by the way, that made me laugh.

yes very cool. i suspected he was larger than average tho 18" is quite huge. scale of the toy changes thing a lot with shooting. I would love to find something that articulated in like a 4-6" size and not spiderman (or another famous hero).

for me i need a more generic character so i can project a unique personality though the series. tough thing with something uber recognizable is all the pictures come out as "hey look what spiderman is doing"

my recommendation is if you intend to do a lot with this figure define how he fits into the real world and stick to it.

for example i have a whole series with the above lego knight but i tend to either make lego scenes or use real items as props to make a scene. other shots i have done with a different figure it's more apparent he exists as a tiny person int he real world and is interfacing with things differently.

for example . having spidy standing on some boxes and stealing a beer out of the fridge is funny but it's apparent that he is a small spidy in a human world. whereas your cig picture is more of a full size spidy in an imaginary world. one isn't better than the other (fo an 18" figure i would actually stick to the former) but if you switch back and forth the character looses a sense of being.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, was kind of leaning more towards shooting him in the "real world", and having him interact with life size objects, furniture...my dog. :D It was with this in mind that I had actually first got a six inch spidey but then when I spotted this guy I had to get him. Now I'm still trying to decide how to shoot him but yeah, I agree that I should stick with one style once I have decided.

Thanks again.

Cool!

Does it fall from the top of a set on Broadway, too?
