recent school sports shots

got quite a few from the recent home games i though i would share since i dont post much and would love the feedback since i really enjoy sports photography.

the basketball shots are done with my 50 1.8 @ f/2 1/400 ISO 1600

this tennis was taken with my 28-135

and this one was taken with some ones 70-200 which was awesome that they let me use it to get some good shots, he actually let me switch out with him throughout the match

not easy to shoot indoor sports with 50/1.8. the last one is great!

amazing photography. Its not that easy to capture moving objects. I liked third one.

thanks yall i never had a chance to get some solid feedback and was never sure if i was getting good captures or sports or not. ill keep shooting more i can only get better at it with more experience, definitely a lot more fun than doing portrait photography i think

I think you should move your shutter speed up to 1/800 sec in order to reduce the blur. A little PP would be nice. Good action.

thanks for the advice. my editor at the school paper just said to bump to 1/500 but i will totally try to push to 800 just hope for not too much grain because i dont edit my own photos

At least 1/640. I love the 50 prime. It looks like you got really good action sitting behind the basketball hoop. Perfect with the 50mm prime, impossible with the 70-200mm. A little tweak here and there, nothing major. Great job!

For the tennis, out in the sun.. Av mode.. indoors manual usually..


EOS 7D Sigma 70-200 F2.8 (1.4 extender outdoors) are the workhorses. 50D for backup, EF 70-300MM USM f/4-5.6 IS, Freelance photographer for local newspapers and my website viewthroughmylens.net (external link)
