Nice shots. Since the young lady is more important than the ball I'm not a fan of those shots with the ball in focus and her face very soft.

Great set, she must be happy.
I agrre on the focus also

If economics are not an isse. Buy a new ball. As a long time coach, parent and short time photographer, the ball takes away from the nice pictres of the girl.

My eye was drawn away from the face and to the ball. Definitely put the face in focus. The ball should be a prop not the subject. IMHO

wide shots distorts her body...not flattering for portraits.

For image #2,when doing a perspective portrait,make sure you fill the frame. Also, extend the arm more key left to show the entire arm. Maybe even a bit of a dutch angle? Dont be afraid to get a little more aggressive with your lighting techniques. Maybe try a double main split light on black background next time! Over all,the shots are good. As for the shorts, coming from someone that photographs soccer players on a daily basis,you are kinda stuck with the required uniform.

nice photos maybe a photo or two of her with her foot on the ball

Agree and I have seen two many of these soccer ball shots. Should try different like actually shooting on the field late evening with strobes/flashes to give something different from the usual stuff. Sorry for being hard on you.

sport themed portraits are usually cool when they are shot out there where they play.
In studio with sports theme is just not interesting.

Thanks for all the comments. The only picture where the face is a little soft is the one with the flare. The others may just be the compression from the full resolution file. I agree that outdoor pictures work better for sports shots, but these were taken for more studio practice. I've only done a few studio sessions and need the practice. I'll take all the advice back to the studio for my next try. Thanks for the help.
