I am finally getting around to looking for a new camera bag.
(My current one is old, sickly green in color, and has the word "Nikon" in large letters on the top. :o)
Anyone have a "favorite" that they can recommend as an alternative?

I have a crumpler 7 million dollar home and a tamrac adventure 74 or 75 can't remember. Eitherway. Both of those bags are perfect for waht they do.

I've been using a Canon Professional Gadget Bag 1EG for the past 3 years and it's very well made and an extraordinary value at around $65. I like the easy reach into the bag and the lens positioning for indoor shoots. I use a similar mix as your equip list indoors. For outdoor sports shoots with a long tele 400 and a 70-200 I use the Tamrac Expedition 8, heavy but holds it all and easy monopod carry.

would you consider a fanny pack? im using a tenba waistpack.

pos: carries a whole lot (fits my body with a 24-105 attached, a 10-22mm, 580exII, 50mm 1.8 and various cables and such)
carries the weight well
gives quick access

cons: its a fanny pack. :P

pfjbaldwin: I found it at B&H, temporarily out of stock but it looks pretty good. Here is a link for others who might be interested: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ional_Gadget_Bag_1EG.html (external link)
The Expedition 8 looks amazing--that will have to go on my wish list.
Hot Cocoa: I don't think B&H carries the Urban Disguise. Will need to check elsewhere.
treck_dialect: Found the Tenba Waistpack http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ible_Waistpack_Black.html (external link)
I am kind of liking the idea of a waistpack. . .can you keep it in front of you easily and get into it easily or do you need to take it off?

Thanks to all who have answered.

I really like my Kata DR-467i. The area for camera gear isn't huge, but it's adequate space for everything in my signature plus one more lens maybe. The top compartment is mostly empty and a good space to store things for a day trip!

The Lowepro Flipside 300 looks good also; it would carry a more than the waistpack, too.

There are some good choices here.

treck_dialect: Did I give a link to the correct waistpack? It doesn't look like it would hold as much as you list in your post. Is there another one that is bigger?
