Hi all,

Thought I would start a thread to document my recent trip to Madike Private Hills Game Reserve, South Africa. I've had the absolute time of my life, and have never experienced anything like it. It's safe to say, has been the best experience of my life! :)

My other half and I shot over 3,500 pictures together so have a fair few to traul though. Unfortunately I've been so busy with weddings/corporate shoots since being back I haven't had the chance to look through and process my S.A pictures......except one!

This is a large elephant bull, who decided he'd charge upto our jeep (little did we know, as we were facing the other way shooting 3 rhino) and shake his head, showering us in mud to assert his dominance. I quickly changed to my 24-105 lens and snapped this picture. Click the image to visit my FlickR for more information :)

Hopefully have some more to share with you guys soon!

Awesome photo! Love the dirt flying off his head and the B&W works perfectly with the image.

This is a great capture Rick, i love the energy and mood of the image. Did you bump into Gerry van der Walt when you were in Madikwe by any chance?

Hi Chris,

Can't say I did (well, not knowingly?) Had a truely amazing time there though. Our guides Barend and tracker Sam were fantastic! Made the experience truely unforgettable.

Soon as i've got this wedding viewing over and complete will have time to sit through and edit the South Africa pictures. Can't wait to post some more and share some stories! :)

Gerry manages a hotel over at Madikwe and also runs the photo-africa (external link) website which is well worth a look.

Look forward to seeing more of your images,

Chris

Brilliant, might have to bookmark that site for the future! We stayed in the Madikwe Private Hills Lodge which i'm guessing is a different hotel.

Love how that all the rangers on safari are aware of your photographic interest and go out of their way to help you. Our ranger drove like a nutcase to the dam one night in order for us to shoot a sunset :)

Wedding viewing will be completed this weekend, so will have time to upload some South Africa images I hope! :)

With client shoots edited and out of the way we've been able to start processing our South Africa shots. The giraffe was one of the first creatures we saw, driving the rental through the reserve to our hotel and still remain one of my favourite.
