Went to the "Centennial of Naval Aviation" airshow over San Diego Bay. It was a pretty lackluster show and, to add to the overall bad vibe, the lighting pretty much sucked all day; the sun was always in a bad spot, and I was on a 12th floor hotel balcony.

Still, I came away with a few shots shots I'm kinda' happy with:

Image #1 isn't showing up.

and I was on a 12th floor hotel balcony.

Pretty plush! I've never had an air show with room service! :D

Sorry to hear that the show was lackluster. I'm not seeing any photos.

If you would have gone over the bridge to Coronado, then the lighting would have been much better. It was to our back the entire time.

Light was definitely good on the Coronado side and to call it "lack luster" is a little misleading. It wasn't intended to be an "airshow."

I do like your angle on the hovering Osprey. Some of the "acts" played to the VIPs aboard the Stennis and were hard (if not impossible) to shoot from North Island.

Point taken. I didn't expect something like the Miramar Air Show, I expected more than what was on hand. Maybe I was expecting a mini-Berlin Airlift...

We'd considered it, but I overheard someone in a restaurant saying that the only way to get to Coronado was by ferry. The bridge was so packed it was effectively shut down. That didn't bode well for what the crowds would be at North Island...
