I am trying to find out if videographers do this kind of thing.

I work for a medical device company. We have a customer in Canada that has a problem. We have spent weeks trying to reproduce it. Now we think its necessary to send an engineer to video tape what the customer is doing.

But I thought, WAIT, wouldn't it be better to hire a videographer?

Here is the setup. The operator sits at our machine and the patient sits to the left of the operator facing the machine. We want to get video, maybe all day is required, to better understand what is going wrong. It will be necessary to see the screen and the keyboard of the operators actions. The patient's identity must be obscured. This can be done in SD format.

Is this something that a videographer would be willing to do?

yes, although you'll be paying quite a lot of $ to have a videographer sitting there all day when it could easily be done with a tripod and set-and-forget style shooting.

This is true, but we are going to pay about $1200us to send someone for a couple of days. If someone could sit there for half that it would be inviting for us.

What I am wondering is, is this a niche that videographer get involved in.

When would you be looking to have this done?

depends on how much you are willing to pay. good videographers charge a lot of money and dont go by the hour. they go by the session like you pay for a full 12 hours and it would be a flat rate sometimes. of course it depends on the job. and then you pay another rate for editing as well.

We are deciding on a solution today. I have proposed that a videographer will be less expensive than sending an engineer.
