Can a vector file for a logo be easily converted to a jpg?

Yes it's very easy. Just open it in CorelDraw, Fireworks, illustrator, etc., and export as JPG. What is the file extension? Corel and Adobe and other vector programs will have their own native formats so it will be best to open the drawing in whatever program was used to create it. If it's .png, that's a bit more universal, may not matter as much. Anyway, if you can't find the software PM me and I'd be happy to try and export it for you.

I'm not sure about the file extension. I'm having a logo done for me and I want a jpg as well. Should I ask for a specific file format or extension?

I suppose I could just ask for jpgs as well, eh? :p

Yes and yes. It only involves about ten seconds more of their time to create JPGs for you.
