Saw this yesterday....bit disappointed in Canon, but I shall still be going to FOCUS.
Apparently Canon have made a marketing decision not to attend the biggest photography show in Europe!

Sorry for the delayed reply - Canons decision is a "marketing" one!! Something tells me thats not the best marketing decision ever, but as in Laudrups link, all equipment will still be available through the retailers at the show.

Still no reply from Canon PR department, what a surprise!!!

Did send them another email, saying at least the Nikon stand will be there.

kinda have feeling that Canon just couldn't be bothered. Once you buy into system is not that easy to change so most people would just accept them being arses :/

Maybe Canon is anticipating Nikon to be making pretty big announcements and decided to pull out because they don't have anything significant to show for

The value of trade shows for major manufacturers is becoming an increasingly open question. Once you have the ability to gain attention on your own shows can be a drag.

Hi all, just had an email from the Canon PR office, see it below, make of it what you will:

Hi Ray,Thank you for your mail and for taking the time to write to us. Customer feedback is very important to us.We are currently undertaking a review of all of our marketing activities and it is unfortunate that this decision falls just ahead of Focus on Imaging. Our aim is to look at how we can connect with existing and prospective customers in the most effective way and your mail supports the view that our customers want to talk to us at shows such as Focus. Please rest assured, although we will not have a dedicated stand at Focus, Canon will still be represented at the show via our retail partners; Cecil Jacobs (Stand M10), Calumet (L27), Cameraworld (E1), 1st Cameras (C1) and The Flash Centre (F40).Thanks again for your feedback.Regards,
Sarah
