These were all shot using a G9 in the Canon housing and most were lit up by 2 older Sea & Sea stobes that only fire at full power. Edited in CS4 using Camera RAW.

Very nice. We dove there a couple of times and your pictures make me want to go back. The Palantar Reef is amazing.

Very cool brings back memories. I was shooting film in those days. Palancar Reef and Wall is a very nice place to dive , along with Columbia and Paradius . Cozumel was one Jacques Cousteau's favorite places to dive.

Thanks everyone. I think this was trip number 10, and it was a very good trip diving wise. First time I had seen a Dolphin, and not only was I able to get the camera turned on but to get a well framed shot too. I didn't even know if anyone else had seen it because it took off as soon as it saw me (or us). Luckily some others had seen it.
Yes Palancar & Colombia Deep are excellent sites, but my personal favorite is Colombia Shallows (first photo), We dove Palancar Gardens twice, Palancar Bricks once, Palancar Caves once & Colombia Deep twice, along with a lot of the other reefs. I have all of my Cozumel related albums in a single set here for those looking for more

Cool pictures but I was always told not to use flashes when sharks are present.

I've never heard anything re using a flash when sharks are around, but I'll make an effort to check on that. In the case of the Black Tip is very likely it wasn't yet turned on because that photo was taken (quickly) during our decent. I usually turn my camera & strobes on once we've begun the dive, & then take a few test shots to get basic settings. I have taken lots of photos of Nurse Sharks using my strobes, including some during that trip. I've never noticed any reaction from them when doing it, but then again in Cozumel most of them see a lot of divers each week.

I saw enough turtles this trip that I was able to make an album just for them.

Re the sharks, most divers have a strong desire to see them in their natural habitat, and knowing the types you might see in any particular area reduces some of the risks, but you never know what you might see, nor whether it might attack. Nurse sharks are known as being pretty docile, but NEVER try to crowd them especially if there's a young one with them.
