any tips or tricks that might help me? I am going to have 6 strobes. There is going to be a model in front of the car. I am thinking 2 strobe should blow out the BG? 3 to light up the car and one for the model? Would you do it different?

Thanks!

I think the point in a studio is to light up the white around the car and have it reflected in the bodywork. I could be wrong though.

What all do you get to use?

Yeah thats what I am thinking. 6 Elinchrom strobes. Going to get a strip of white fabric to light up. Going to use two strobes for that I think.

What we used were overhead flats & rolling flats, & we put the light on them to get reflections in the body.

And we used 2,000 & 750 wt lights so we could see what the light was doing. With view cameras, sometimes the models had to hold still for a minute, but you shouldn't have any problems with your faster lenses.

Car Studio Shots

Good luck!

Personally, I think I'd light the car, then stick the model in and light her then add her in post so that you're not getting unwanted highlight from the lights on the model and you can light her the way you want. That's just me though.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Speedotron users, untie!

Yeah that would make for a better lit shot of the car but She was sitting on the car or leaning up against it. I would rather take out hot spots than add a reflection. I lit it for her more so than the car. I had to put some grids on though.
