Bill, this is truly a marvelous shot. You are really doing beautifully with the a9.

Thank you, Mike. Seems every new body has a learning curve for me and I needed this today. Still a few to go through.

Your shot is nice, and I think you helped me to identify the bird below, also a falcon?
Identified as a hawk later in the thread.

It was quite distant, but also in California, SF Bay area.

Sorry Jack, but this bird is a hawk...it appears to be a red-tailed hawk, judging from the chest markings, and the hint of red on the corner of the tail.

LD, or Mike
Often mistaken, but never in doubt.

Absolutely perfect, Shalu. The number 1 bird on my bucket list. I have a couple of shots, but they're not very good.

Thank you very much, Mike! Hope you get your shots soon! You can always travel to the bay area to shoot them :-P. This is the first time I went to shoot at a nest site. That place is so windy and chilling cold even in summer, and foggy most of the time, but worth the suffering if I can get my shots :-P. I will go there again

Thanks for the information on where to get some shots of these great falcons, Shalu.

This is simply beautiful, Shalu. It looks like a painting and needs to find a frame, a mat, and a prominent place on the wall.
