This is what it looks like when 30,000 white geese decide to fly off at the same time. Look at the large number of birds still on the ground waiting to take flight. Does anyone know which bird decides when it's time to fly off?

I wish I knew, but surely no flight controller involved. Something tells me that even our modern flight tracking technology would just go bonkers.
