I spotted this Kookaburra flying to a disused Termite mount high up in a tree, take a few pecks and then fly back to its perch on a nearby branch.

It looked like the bird was trying to excavate a hole to make a nest?

This is a 2 frame composite, taken with the EOS R6 (not yet in POTN database).

Yeah exactly. That time of year there are hawks on every sign and fence post in sight on the refuge. (Tule Lake and Lower Klamath).
