I think this is a Kestrel but my bird identification skills are not great!

Black kites aren't very black, are they.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

The plant is called Agastache Red Fortune:

http://www.perennials.com …gastache-red-fortune.html (external link)

Your wife will love this perennial because, 1) it's beautiful, 2) hummingbirds are irresistibly drawn to the plant; 3) it's very sturdy and bloom for a long time; and 4) it's quite inexpensive.

Another beautiful perennial to get for all the same reasons is Crocosmia Diablo:

https://www.gardenia.net …varieties-for-your-garden (external link)

My yard hummers love these two perennials just about equally.

One thing, though: you'd need to grab them as soon as you see them in stores; they'll be out of stock the same day they come in. I only got one Agastache Red Fortune and two Crocosmias because I didn't know how hummers would like them. Knowing what I know now, I plan on getting several more of these come next spring.

Thank you so much... My wife will love them. You just made me a hero. Thanks again.

Happy Shooting - Jamey

Lovely shot, fotoi! I really like the purple hills in the background.
