Jun 17, 2021 02:38 | #31202 Don't often get the chance to do wildlife these days, so jumped at the opportunity to spend a few hours on the Saltee Island just off the coast of Wexford in southern Ireland. Great trip, abundance of puffins, gannets and razorbills as well as other seabirds. Spent a few hours trying to capture the puffins in flight. Found that the AF struggled to acquire the birds when shooting against the sea or land, probably due to the bright midday sun, but much better when shot against the sky where there was less distractions for the system to lock on to. Great color and sharpness. Great shots, Paul. It seems like the skimmers are the big time losers. Did most of the little skimmers get taken from the nests? Thank you kindly Mike. Two very nice shots, David! I especially like the first one. paul katinas wrote in post #19248841 Thank you kindly Mike. The problem this year has been careless pet owners letting their animals run through the roped-off restricted beach nest sight. Those thoughtless actions made the Skimmers relocate twice. Hopefully all will turn out well. There are about 250 nests at the new location. Happy trails. Love these two shots, Paul! You surely timed the first one perfectly! Great work! It definitely does look a bit awkward for the hawk chicks first flight, Tom. I hope it was able to avoid the cactus needles. Nice capture! biggles2002 wrote in post #19248998 Nice capture, biggles!
