Really like the Macaw parrot shot, such stunning birds.
They sell as pets here in NZ for about $5k!

BIF with a 200mm lens and a 1.4x TC (pretending to have a 300 F4). Was still too long for the pelicans (usually my problem is the other way around!)

They are cool looking, many thanks for your comments.

Although they are mainly a South and Central American bird, they also show up in Mexico, TX & AZ.
I caught this guy in FL a couple of days ago where I've read there are only about 250 breeding pair and maybe 400 birds total.

They are Falcons, but are mainly scavengers, hanging with the Vultures fighting over carrion. They spend a good amount of time walking and running on the ground, flipping stuff over looking for worms, snakes, lizards and frogs.

When they do fly, they fly low and slow..... excellent for guys like me who think they can shoot BIF ! ;-)a

Another cool thing about them is they are able to change the color of their face in seconds depending on their mood, much like a Turkey !

Thank you for that, they sure do sound like an interesting raptor shame we dont get them over this side of the pond.
