This is the third of three hawks we have enjoyed from last winter until recently. For a while they seemed to have vanished---it was the other night that we
got a clue as to why--we heard two GHOs in the forest between where we are and where we found one hawk nest.
The next night we played GHO calls on a bluetooth speaker and sure enough one flew overhead lit by the Moon. Poof was elated to see it confirming they are also
working the neighborhood. Bad for me the owl landed in leaf cover and too far up the tree for any tries at imaging.
When we were calling the GHOs I told Poof to be careful and put the speaker well away from us.
I bet many people know that GHOs will kill and eat Red-tail hawks and take over their nest. So maybe the owls have dispatched or run off the hawks we had in the area.
So here is maybe one of the last images of our neighborhood hawk.
