This is excellent. I'm curious which adapter you used.

I can tell you that it does not happen to you only ... The bird was so busy hunting insects, that after a while I got out of the car and walked slowly until I reached the minimum focusing distance of my lens (2,7m)

That is one of the most amazing bird events I've seen. To see that unfold would be truly a unique experience.
Why do they do that?
Beautifully executed lot of photos.

Thank you! During breeding season, while the mom is hatching the eggs, or taking care of babies near the nest, the dad brings back food and hands it over to mom, often in mid-air, so that the mom will feed the babies and herself. When the babies fledge, they will also fly out to meet their parents to get food in mid-air when the parents bring back food.

Thank you, Will! I am using Sigma MC-11 adapter, which allows me to use all my Canon lenses on Sony A9, works great. I also used a Kenko 1.4X TC (or Canon 1.4x sometimes) in this case. The MC-11 does not fit the Sony 1.4x TC physically (the latest Metabones adapter does).

Oh man...that is such a wonderful shot. I love the composition, the color, and the smooth clean background.
