Shot at Lock and Dam No. 25 in Winfield, MO. Great place to find Gulls, Swallows, and Pelicans from time-to-time.

Nice in-flight of that goose!

Thanks, Archibald. I though it was kind of neat the way he turned his head, and looked right down at me when he heard my shutter click.

You ended up with two unusual shots. The gull taking off with the fish is great (perfect timing), and the white pelican flying with the specklebelly geese is really uncommon. I wonder if the pelican thinks he's a goose? :-)

Robert, I can't answer that one. They are so common here. I like this one because he was looking right at me. But remember, you get so many different birds that I absolutely drool over. I get very envious when I see your images. :-)

I thought the same thing when they flew over because to be honest I didn't notice the pelican at first then realized he was a little too big to be a goose. I think my post on Facebook after I made the image was "Just part of the flock" or something similar, maybe he hangs out with Geese and doesn't know any different haha. Thank you btw for identifying the Geese, I hadn't realized they weren't Canada geese until just now.

That shot really surprised me. I see geese all the time, but never a white pelican amongst them. Very cool shot, for sure:!:

I especially like the second shot. One of these things is not like the others!

One of mt favorite birds. I'm fortunate to live on their flyway. It is a sure harbinger of Spring or Fall when the flocks are overhead with their haunting chortle. They are fun to observe - when they dance, it is a hoot!:-) I think the last shot is intersting because it shows how aerodynamically "clean" these birds are - the world's greatest aircraft designer could not beat mother nature's handiwork.

Beautiful Sandhill shots, Lee. I really like both #1 and #2.
