One of mt favorite birds. I'm fortunate to live on their flyway. It is a sure harbinger of Spring or Fall when the flocks are overhead with their haunting chortle. They are fun to observe - when they dance, it is a hoot!:-) I think the last shot is intersting because it shows how aerodynamically "clean" these birds are - the world's greatest aircraft designer could not beat mother nature's handiwork.

Amazing.
I was mulling on the top one thinking how aerodynamically "clean" it is and moved onto the ones below to see similar.
Beautifully captured.

Speaking of perfectly designed aerodynamics.......God did a pretty good job of designing these guys.

Over this past weekend, I made my first attempts at capturing a bird in flight. Out of about 90 shots, I captured a handful of decent shots of Ring-billed Gulls. Here are two of those shots.

American Kestrel grazing a soccer field for crickets. It was quite a distance so it's a heavy crop. It came out better than I expected.

this on is kinda freaky... I love the play of shadows and light. It emphasizes the prehistoric look of these amazing birds.
The featherless head looks even more skeletal. The feet look even more reptilian...

That's a beautiful bird. Must have been frustrating. So close but not close enough.
Still very nice.
