Thank you very much Shalu. They certainly are challenging BIF's. If I come upon their nest, one of them will usually do the broken wing act, while the other will often times make nice flight circles around me. I make it a point not to stay for more than just a few minutes at their nest sites. I want to allow them to return to the eggs as soon as possible.

Having nests nearby is definitely a huge plus. It presents so many more opportunities. That's why I am having so much fun with the white-tailed kites.

Well you're doing a heck of a nice job photographing the white-tailed kites, that's for sure.

Much appreciated.
You and your camera have done well.

Were you up a tree? Seem to be on same/similar elevation as bird in some photos.

Awesome series. Well done on getting the focus on the bird through the foreground twigs. Lovely tones and hues, with what looks like quite natural and relaxed processing.:-)

Cheers

Wonderful shot...amazingly sharp. Were you using a 2xTC for that one?

Thanks and yes, I leave the 2X on the 300 for a smaller 600mm package, as it is much easier to wield around inside my "car-blind" than my 500.

I have the same setup. The only thing I notice is that at 2x the tracking of BIF is not as good. Otherwise a great combo.

Thank you very much, Dennis! Glad you noticed. I had to use spot focus to focus on the bird behind the twigs and when it lifted off, I worked hard to keep the point on the bird.

This one is a "Before" & "After" comparison of a snatched shot that I almost deleted when Chimping after the Whistling Kite caught me unawares with the wrong settings.

Although you cannot make a silk purse from a sow's ear, the Canon 5D Mk IV and Adobe PS CC helped me rescue some details from the RAW file.:-)

Cheers

Dennis
