By the way, the gadwall population is down 31% from last year. All the other ducks except wigeon (up 2% from last year), are down from last year. I go to parks, wildlife refuges (numerous) for many shore birds and waterfowl, grasslands water district (private duck clubs) for waterfowl. There is a rookery on private property that I get many of my egrets and herons. I'm always looking for new spots, and I frequently ask land owners for permission to photograph on their property.
