Great captures Jake. Good to see you visited St. Mary's, incredible place.

Last time I was there was in 2005, and now I already want to go back. This time the weather never broke for me, despite having set aside 3 days,. bit for a place that is in dense fog 300 days out of the year, what can I expect? :)

I lucked out....both times I've been there have been beautiful, sunny days !
When I was there, back in July, I had the whole place to myself for three hours ! Couldn't believe it.

Sensational shot, Rob. I wonder if that new hairdo style will catch on? With the new generation, the craziest hair (feather) styles seem to become the most popular. :p

It was dense fog and off and on rain when I got to Cape St. Mary's in Newfoundland,. it didn';t stop me from getting out there as long as I could, getting drenched down to the skin, and eventually contracting strep throat and a cold that weeks later I am still battling,. :)

But I got some shots anyway.

The Gannets emerge from the thick fog like ghosts;

Suddenly a bird with 6 foot wingspan is zooming right over your head, only seconds ago it was invisible in the haze. So close you can't frame it (uncropped)

The trade off is distance, farther away = easier to frame and track, but also = more fog between you and the subject, lower quality detail etc..

Sometimes you get a good balance;

Despite the adverse conditions, you got some great captures, Jake. My favorite is the 3rd one down. I like the looking down on the bird angle.

Nice shots Shalu...crows sure do like to harass other birds, especially hawks and owls.

Thank you very much, Mike! Yeah, crows tend to harass everybody, until they come near kite's nest when the kites would chase them away.
