Thank you very much, Richard! Now that you mentioned it, there is actually a story here. While the gull was trying to eat the clam, a snowy egret flew over and tried to take over the clam.

Thanks for the extra, fascinating information.
I wouldn't have thought the Heron would have been a threat, but being so tall I can imagine how it could be seen as such.

However, the egret lacks the serious Skilz that is needed to crack open the clam, so it gave up eventually. The gull got the job done and ate the clam in the end.
