I imagine that happened pretty quickly. Even at 100 feet above the water it would be all over in a very short time.

Thank you very much, Richard! I haven't learned the sophisticated automatic lock-on tracking of A9 yet, so I use Zone AF and followed the bird myself to keep it in the zone. A9 focusing is amazing, I had a total of 32 frames in the whole sequence, none of them out of focus.
