I thought the nesting material was another Coot at first ha!

Thanks MM, the two eagles on our local lake,really a big pond have really good hunting. There are multitudes of coots and when one gets abducted by an eagle the others do not move, no fear or no brains. Very nice pelican, we live around 15 minutes from coast in central California so we have lots of opportunities for pelicans and other sea birds but lake is on the way to coast and I always end up at lake.

MedicineMan, here is my best attempt at pelican, they are such unique looking birds. Love to watch them hunt but very challenging to capture in image.

Dive, come up empty, repeat.

This guy was very entertaining. He did this about ten times back to back. He finally came up with what looked like a clump of seaweed (lakeweed?).
