4 Einsteins, 2 AB800, 1 ABR800. That is a good kit for just about anything that comes up.
Its also relatively portable. The 4 E640s, 2 VMLs, reflectors, cords etc. in a rolling case. Other cases for stands, backgrounds etc.

I tend to use the 2 AB800s for background, and the E640s for subject. ABR is kind of a specialty item, although it does work well as a third 800 when the need arrises.

I think I may get two more E640s and sell the AB800s just to have everything interchangable.

Lighting equipment for a photographer is like fuel and altitude for a pilot -- you can never have too much. :-) (I used to fly a corporate jet. :-) )

Do you find the E640s adequate enough for your needs? do you have any intentions of moving away from PCB?

I think 2 Eli RX600 monos, 3 Eli Ranger RX packs with 2 A-heads, 2 S-heads, 1 ringlight and 1 Twin X4 head plus AB B800, B400 and 5 Canon, Nikon and Metz hotshoe flashes with Canon and Quantum battery packs should be enough for any job I may every need to undertake.

Marlon,
The first strobes I used were Speedotrons in 1969.
I have worked with pack/head and monolights from several manufacturers over the years since.
Right now I think the Einstein 640 is the most flexible and cost effective strobe available.

The only think I don't like is the modifier mount. It works. I like the profoto approach best, followed by Elinchrom. As for the lights, controls and capabilities, the Einstein has more capabilities than anything else I've read about or used.

Maybe a version that goes to 1200Ws but I can't honestly say that I'd ever really use that capability.

Well, maybe if I had to photograph a paper making machine again. (That took about 12 specially built 4 bulb receptacles for 500 Watt Photofloods that were wired so they could be plugged into the 480V receptacle which was the only power available.)

Leo, I didn't know we were supposed to include speedlites; 2 580EXIIs, 3 580EX, 3 YN560, 1 Di866

And 1 Genesis 300B that is left over from a foray into battery powered monolights last year before I build a DIY mini before the VML came along. (Its for sale. :-) )

And before someone hollers "fan boy" I learned a long time ago to buy and use stuff that works rather than stuff that has a nice logo on it. (and I've never had a client ask me what kind of equipment I used. :-) )

I'm envious, want to trade some of your Einsteins for 580EXIIs, price makes them about an even trade. :-)

And if the MC2s work as implied, (the AC9s do) then my inventory of speedlites will start to go way down. And the Einstein inventory will swell.

That's the thing - if you have the vision of what you want to do, you need the tools to get you there. No amount of 'not having' can get you to where you want to be/go if you know where it is you want to go/be.

Er, right?

Whenever I want to go to sleep, I put this video on and sweet dreams ensue! HAHAHA...

I was looking at the Profoto AcuteB 600s and I was lusting like crazy! I would really like to have that type of mount and stability. I can probably trust a profoto acuteB head on a monopod - Can't say that about an einstein.

How do you deal with two different lighting companies? My friend and I share the einsteins and 1 eli. I personally am a stickler for consistency and I can't deal with the 1 300 style RX. I'm urging him to get rid of it so that money can be spent towards another Einstein.
