Mods- I was unsure if it is OK to request images, so feel free to delete/move if this is against any rules or in the wrong place(I didn't see anything in the "rules" tab)
My major professor (Dr. Guy Baldassarre) is looking for images to be used in the latest revision to Ducks, Geese, and Swans of North America.
Below is the request from Guy. Any help would be greatly appreciated and your photo may be immortalized in a book! Any photo's you would like to "donate" can be sent directly to Ian Gereg (see below).
"As many of you know, for about 2 years now I have been working vigorously on a revision of “Ducks, Geese and Swans of North America.” The new edition will have updated accounts of all the species, new range maps, and a new presentation of the famous drawings by Bob Hines that were in the 1980 edition. All this will of course be in color.
In addition, however, we want to use suitable color photographs of the species and/or their habitats. There is now less need for pictures to depict identification more than something unique about the bird involved. A courtship display, for example, or a bird in flight, or something unique about foraging (like the group foraging you can see in Shovelers). But there also can be some unique habitat photographs. For example, a good aerial shot of Izembek Lagoon where all the Pacific Brant stage. In general, I think it’s harder to describe these types of pictures than it is to recognize one when you see it! So I’m leaving that up to you! I very much see this new edition as a celebration of all the work by the waterfowl community and waterfowl enthusiasts, so hopefully the photos will be a way for them to contribute.
I waited until I had about a dozen accounts to go before I solicited the photographs, so that I knew the book was going to happen. One of my current graduate students, Ian Gereg, is going to supervise all this, so photos should be sent to him at gereg@lrwc.net![]()
Unfortunately and as you might expect, we cannot pay for photos, so you will be asked to sign a release form from the publisher.
Thanks in advance for all your help
Guy"
Thank you to anyone who helps.
