Realistically I'm much more concerned about pissing off planners than other photogs.

Because its not my role. Part of the perks of being a main shooter is to network. Just like I do not send photos to the florist, planner, officiant, etc. because it is not my place. And what if the main saw me giving out my card without knowing what was going on. I am find with a second handing out their information if it is something like a friend that they want to catch up with, but if it is for business I believe it is completely uncalled for.

I actually have it in my contract that any photographer who is working for/with me must be supportive only of my brand and is forbidden from promoting their own business.

That's why I said above that the best business ethics are those that are written and have signatures at the bottom.
