With this trigger you do not use the built in camera flash at all.

You mount the transmitter in the hotshoe of the camera and mount the 430EX on the receiver. When you press the shutter button the transmitter will transmit a wireless radio signal to the receiver, which will fire the 430EX. Make sure the 430EX is in manual and everything should work fine.
