same price at Amazon.

I am shocked someone would pay $450 for a flash, though. That's outrageous.

Only a few months ago it was $385 on amazon. I nearly bought one to replace my mark1 at that price.

Don't have a whole lot of choice, unfortunately. Even used they are going for $350+

I've bought two (on separate occasions) at that price. It happens. $275 is still a very good price for a mk1

damn, for a little more you can get an Einstein....

Have you guys thought about looking at the Nissin Di866, it has a higher GN of 60 and seems to have more integrated features as well as when new features are released the Di866 can be updated via a USB port. Here is the link:
Nissin Di866 Speedlight for Canon Digital SLR Cameras, Guide number 198 (external link)

It goes for 289.00 which is a pretty good price in general IMO.

It may not have the nice jog wheel of the 580ex models but it does boast a slightly better GN and goes for 300 on most sites.

If not, just wait until later in the year when prices drop again. I've noticed over the last couple of years prices have been going up and down at various times of the year. A little patience could very well pay off in the end.

I would like that, however I have not seen them that low, but will keep an eye out now.

Nothing revolutionized my photography more than my 580 ex ii. I had a 550 before that broke. I probably just didn't get it before, but I always shoot events at f/4-f/5.6 now with 200-800 ISO using 1/4 manual flash. The lens and body are almost meaningless there.

But, I got mine used on the forums for like $380.
