All the German notice from Canon is saying is that the lenses on the list won't use cross-type outer sensors on the cameras listed, and that that should have been in the camera manuals.

They aren't saying those lenses should use cross-type outer sensors. It is entirely plausible that they tested every EF lens ever made on those cameras, and those lenses failed to work reliably. After all, the lens ID is presumably passed to the camera for just such an eventuality. And other cameras and lens combinations have autofocus limitations - there are some mentioned in my camera manual.

They aren't blessing Tamron's reuse of the lens ID.

They aren't undertaking to give owners a custom function to disable this.

They aren't undertaking to allocate blocks of lens IDs to lens manufacturers or to extend the protocol to pass a lens name.
