I'm having a dinner party for 30 of my closest friends. My 350D will be there to capture all the action of course. Any suggestion on a menu?

Filet Mignon, Lobster, and Champagne.

Of course I'll need an invitation in payment for this great idea.

2-3 bags of frozen chicken breatsts...thawed
Coat with olive oil and lemon juice, sprinkle with taragon, salt and pepper. Bake at 325 F until done and golden, approx 1 hour. (You should be able to bake 15 or so at a time. Use tin foil banquet pans and cover after done to keep warm and to re-heat.)

Serve a starch...I would serve garlic smashed potatos with some skin left on...about a 1/3 of the taters. But it would require a lot of boiling and smashing. Alternative is garlic potatos....wash thirty potatos or so and cut into rough cubes or pieces about 2" x 2". Rinse after cutting to remove starch. Coat, in big pan, with olive oil, coarse salt, cracked pepper and a bunch of garlic. Bake in 400F oven on sheet for approx 45 minutes or until golden and crispy crusted. Serve sprinkled with parsley, fresh.

Vegetable: easiest is salad, but I would serve freash steamed brocoli. 5-6 heads should do...rinse, cut about 3-4 inches from flores and steam in pans until tender but still bright green. Coat with butter and salt peeper to taste.

Have 4-5 loaves of freash hard crust breads with butter and an olive oil, garlic, peppper, balsamic vinegar dressing in several bottles with liquor pour spouts.

Dessert: many options. I would go with a cake and a pie or two.

Serve everything banquet style if the situation allows.

Have water in pitchers with ice, as well as wine and tea.

Rent settings or but banquet, disposable wear.

Or, you can fly me there and allow me to do it all!

A great big pot of chilli-con-carne and rice. Cook and cool and reheat on the day. Serve with soured cream and mozarella topped garlic bread. Wash down with red wine and lots of lager.

God I'm hungry now!

Or pudding, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, thirty times.

Seriously, I would go to my favorite local restaurant that serves a somewhat unique menu. See if they'll cater banquet style. If not, move on to the #2 favorite restaurant...

In my home town we have a place that serves fantastic Italian food (not unique, but not commonplace Italian either), and another that serves Real Barbecue (fairly unique in New England). Both cater, and both would be outstanding choices if I had to ask myself that question.

I agree with catering. Serious food for 30 people can be a lot of work. If you'd rather do the cooking yourself, I'd recommend Asian food. It's usually easy to prepare in big batches (if you have big woks) and it's normally served buffet style. I would typically prepare:

- rice (of course)
- stir-fried noodles
- stir-fried vegetables with maybe chicken (like chop suey)
- some kind of meat stew
- maybe stir-fried beef with brocolli or mushrooms
- spring rolls
- maybe macaroni or potato salad (okay, not strictly Asian ;))
- salad

Notice, lots of stir-fried dishes. They're quick and easy. :)
