Genesis 200

I want to use this on location but can't afford a battery pack. What would happen if I rigged an adapter to plug into cigarette lighter in car? Can this be done or am I going to blow the fuse in my car and destroy my strobe?

you mean use an inverter from your car battery?

The Genesis 200 has to have 120 AC power.
The only way to get that without being plugged into the power grid is via an inverter connected to a battery.

Plugging an inverter into your car's battery via the cigar lighter will work. Make sure you don't drain the battery to the point that it won't start the car.

Make sure the inverter is a pure sinewave inverter.

The Genesis battery pack will NOT work with the 200. It will only work with the 300B which has a special port for connecting the battery and a switch for selecting DC (battery) or AC for mains power.
