You have more pictures of deer than I have seen in my life! Nice capture! The gray shading of your picture means it is underexposed. Levels (and curves) adjust
the histogram to use more of the light spectrum.

Thanks for the advice. When taking the photo I underexposed by 1/3.
Understand what you did, with the histogram. Thanks for your advice.

Beautiful shot of a Red Deer stag. Is this in Scotland?

The photo is made in The Netherlands, we have much more to offer than tulips, wooden shoes etc.
Have been in Scotland (Dufftown, Aviemoren, Inverness) very nice country.

I'm not a PhotoShopper, but can you show me what you can achieve by the levels thing?

That's what I like about this forum... Lots of people are here to help!! :D

I remember when I first started taking pictures.. and printing them. They always looked great the first print... till I did another one with a different exposure / color balance / etc.

Digital makes it easier... once you know what to adjust on the picture to achieve a specific effect. I was happy with most of my digital images at first.. till I learned about levels and stuff.

A few minor adjustments make big differences.

Have been busy quiete a while with the histogram levels thing.
Personally I like the photo's a bit darker better.
I regret that I didn't monitor the histogram, you have to act fast, on the camera when taking the photos. I had an underexposure setting of -1/3. Maybe the light grass made the inside meter go into underexposure too.
