Vivek Skyline ~ GT-R @ Warp Speed

my vision of a sports car with a proud owner like Vivek is like this:

Color and Lighting and the car in motion - going Warp Speed.

Meet Vivek.. A Purdue Grad, A Pharmacist, and a Military Captain.

Vivek will be doing a 1 year tour of duty in Iraq, starting 2 weeks from now.

his father had asked me do a photo shoot of him and his car..
when i first meet Vivek 2 weeks ago, i thought father bought the car for him, but it turns out Vivek earned this by him self..

it totally makes me smile that if you work hard enough, you can meet all your goals.. congrats to him to make it out of a difficult program at Purdue.. and to serve the USA in the armed forces..

it is fitting i did the SKYLINE shot on a SKYLINE top of the parking garage..

The Legendary Nissan Skyline has quite the fan far in Japan, but few know about this car here in north america..

i was lucky enough to drive this amazing piece of engineering at the end of the night

quick specs...

0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds.. and if your a bad drive, then maybe 3.5 seconds.. lol..

some 450 LB torque
some 500 stock HP

a total of 5 lights were used for this shot

1 back lighting was AB1600 with 60 inch softlighter with an orange gel, camera left for the orange glowing look

2 key lighting on Vivek was Elinchrom Quadra with deep octa about 5 feet away held by dad @ 3.0 power boomed downwards

3-4 also had 2 speed lights on the rims held by my japanese Co Workers at Subaru Research Design, (Koga and Kubo - San) they tagged along to see the Car of course.

5 AB1600 with red gel with shoot thru to light up camera right @ full power

alien bee and the speed lights triggered by triggered by the New Cactus V5's

elinchrom triggered by the sky port, skyport on top of the cactus V5' that was on top of the camera

Hanna ~ The Green Wall

Last from the Newborn Session

Hannah looks so peaceful here..

lighting was Elichrom Deep Oct camera Left about 4 feet away

Power was about 2.3 on Elinchrom scale

we had Hannah on a Large Serving Dish so it is something different for me for sure..

makes me want to do more Newborn sessions.. (because this shot looks like most other newborn shots but there is only so much i can do with newborns)

Kathryn Model ~ The Fashion SnowBoarder

haven't had much time this winter for personal work, so recently i had to do a project shot.

Kathryn, Mother and i were talking about her wedding photos, so after we talked about a fun project.

it started out as a sledding photo, but as it turned out we picked a snowboard shot..

lighting was 3 lights

1. Speed light 580EXII triggered by the New Cactus V5's Camera Left 1/4 power
2. Speed light 580EXII triggered by the New Cactus V5's Camera Right 1/2 power
3. AB1600 with 60 inch Softlighter triggered by the new Cactus V5's 1/2 power about 5 feet camera left from Kathryn

the weather was about 19 F outside, so Kathryn was really a trooper with this shoot..

her mother and father also was helping out.. it takes a good team to get results like this. Coat holding, flashlight holder, etc.

Kim Model ~ The Royal Bride Chair

Elements Salon and Spa Bridal Boutique shoot..

Kim was a stunning bride that i worked with last Oct..
so naturally we had her as a model for this shoot.

MUA Team:

Cassanda Alsop
Megan Ketterer
Katie Looper

Lighting was 2 Alien Bee's AB1600

Key lighting was about 7 feet away from Kim @ 1/2 power with 60 inch softlighter
Rim lighting was about 5 feet away from Kim camera right with a gridded beauty dish

---------------

Katie Model ~ XMas Lights Gaga Style

rocking into the new year with some goals

1. Make more interesting photos
2. Use different Techniques
3. Go outside of my comfort zone

this one was done with 18 feet of LED Xmas lights from Wal Mart

and for the key lighting was 2 LED Flashlights painted in a 2 second exposure starting at the face first and working up Katie's body..

no pro lighting was used at all.. (this is the out of my comfort zone)

Madeline Senior ~ The Yoga Senior

Working with Madeline on her senior photos..

With her artistic creativity we were able to fashion something she and her family will cherish..

Madeline is in a classic Yoga Pose for her Yoga Art..

this turned out kinda like a windows desktop or magazine quality.. i am very happy with this one..

believe it or not.. it was super sunny and i had to put both of my AB1600's on one side and balance out the sun to her other side..

i was out to like F9-F11, ISO 50 i think..

so we showered her with 1200 some watts of power to get this shot..

makes me want a Elinchrom Ranger Rx haha..

i had both units with shoot thru umbrellas camera right and i had to clone out the edge of one of them so you know it was like 5-6 feet away from Maddy..

Both were full power

Aurielle Bride ~ Winter Bride

once in a life time you get married to your high school sweet heart.. sounds like a fairy tale wedding story book right?

well it was true for Aurielle and Josh..

i must say i am very lucky to have done their Wedding.. along with (Ryan O Hicks)

one.. Aurielle is just stunning and two, Josh is a MLB who has worked his way up the ranks.. he played for 2 College Teams and is on his way to the Big Leagues.. well already has had experience in the big leagues.. but he will be there full time this year i believe... coming into his own rapidly..

during the wedding i took several shots of guys that i didn't even know, but it turns out they were also MLB players, just to name a few: Don Mattingly's Son, Preston, and Clayton Kershaw..

but back to this.. photo..

this was lighted up by just 2 LED flash Lights bunched together shined by her father..

the background is displayed below, SOOC.. the wall was red, but i changed it to blue and like blue better for the winter bride look..

the background decorations where held by Ryan O Hicks and mother on the right side.. you can see Beth's hand on the camera right... LOL..

the wedding LED decorations worked too.. and since the decorations had LED ends, i went to ahead and matched the KEY light with LED Flashlights.. so all the tones and colors match and post work was made easier..

the flash lights were boomed camera left about 4 feet out of camera..

As always, I am in awe of your skills, both behind the camera and at the computer. Wickedly good stuff here.

Strangely, the first shot doesn't really do it for me. It looks too static. All your other shots are amazing though.
