has any one used this disc for white balancing is it really worth the bucks

I use a WhiBal card. I like to be specific to where the light is falling.

I have one that I bought a couple of years ago. I bet I've only used it a couple of times in those couple of years. Does it work? Nicely. But, it's an extra step while shooting and white balance in photoshop works well for most circumstances.

My advice would be to save your money....

that's kind of the whole thing, I don't really shoot in any challenging conditions. About the only times I used it was when I was 'practicing' with it under dim tungsten lighting and wanted to balance out that awful yellow cast. It did a very good job. I'm betting a gray card would do the same, though.

I guess where I could see a use is where you can't really stick a WB target out. Anyway, WB targets aren't a panacea anyway, but, to me, they make for a decent starting point.
