What all do I need. I just want one transmitter and one reciever. I have no idea how these work, but I realized I couldn't trust my 580ex II mastering my slave 430ex II. What all do I need to work my 580ex II on camera and my 430ex II on a lightstand. Thanks in advance.

You would not be able to control the 580 on camera. Which, in turn would mean you would need two recievers.

The 580EX2 has a PC sync jack, so just order the CSRB and use the included PC sync cable.

The 430EX2 has no sync jack, so you either have to modify ($5 worth of parts and an hour or so of time), or purchase the AlienBees Speedlight Foot Adapter ($15).

I modified my 430EX2, it's quite simple, but you void the warranty and will end up breaking a small piece of plastic that's really unnecessary.

However, if you're using just speedlights, it'd be much more logical to go with something like the Yongnuo RF602's or Cactus V5's. Both act as Transmitters and receivers. And they have a hot shoe, so you can fire your 580 on camera using them.

I have the rf602's trigger and receiver. What type of sync cable I need? Thanks again.

You dont need any cables, they just go on the hot shoe.

see I want a flash on my camera and a flash on a lightstand, but I need something that can trigger, the one on the lightstand by radio. Instead of relying on the line of site for the flash

Connect the RF-602 transmitter to the PC port of your camera. The flash in the hotshoe will fire and the PC port with fire the transmitter to fire the remote flash. You just have to get creative on how to mount the transmitter.

I am currently using a 580exii, a 580ex, and a alienbee b800.

I dont have 2 extra receivers so i have set the 580exii on master, 580ex on slave, and the b800 was fired optically. My wireless trigger was put on the master 580exii, and via infrared the slave 580 was fired.

All in all, it works, but i had to use a slower sync time, and it was very unreliable depending on the positioning of the slave.

I would say, save the frustrations and get wireless triggers for all your lights.
