Here is set#2 while learning the ins and outs of the 5dii, this time with some wireless flashes, first pic is the set up, last is the rig shot, i am in the process of building a steadier boom so i can really take advantage of the full-frame sensor,

enjoy, cc are always appreciated:

I love the first shot. I am always interested in seeing people's lighting setups. I am no expert here, so I will leave the technical aspects to the pros. It does seem though that on some of the photos, (#2 in particular) could have used some help from another flash on the passenger front of the car. It just seems a little dark on that side.

As well, that last shot is very nice. The color of the sky is great along with the bright lights of the buildings. The only concern I have is that there is to much angle in the picture. I am a huge fan of angled shots, but this one just seems to be angled a little to much. Still a nice picture though. As well, would you throw a picture up of the rig? I have been wanting to try making one myself but am nervous to hang a camera on the end of one.

Nice series. I always love seeing the setup shot. The last one is my favorite (a little less angle maybe).. but I can't stop noticing that the bumper is a different color than the car. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Thanks! yea, i have a third flash and trigger, i just didnt have the time to pack an extension cord to run from the vegabondii to the 2nd vivitar 283.. those older flash units DRAIN the batteries really fast so i dont bother using them unless i can plug them in, but i do agree, i could use some fill in a lot of those pics from a 3rd flash.

as far as the angle.. i know its really extreme, i just got really bored shooting my car... i ahve probably 30 or 40 rig shots of my car, and ran out of angle about 20 shots ago, lol, but here is an unprocessed pic with the rig in it:

ps:

next time i'll take the pics of the actual rig with the camera off of it b/c i realize that you cant really see anything...but the boom is currently made of an old STEEL griding rail and a 14'' extension pole from lowes, NOT the best set up, but as you can tell it works quite well! i am working on getting 15-20 feet of aluminum tubing to get rid of ALL shakes to get cripser pics

absolutely not, lol, i find it really funny how in every supra posting someone asks the question :)

so the answer is yes :) the bumper is a different color. All 1993-1998 (maybe even the japanese models throughout 2002) had a different shade rear bumper, i believe its due to the bumper being non-metalic like the rest of the car and the paint not adhereing to it right... my car looked like that before AND after it got completely painted :)

Thank you. This summer I will defenitly be trying this and seeing how it turns out. Maybe looking on youtube and doing some searching will find me some more answers. In the mean time, I will just keep looking at pictures and waiting until it becomes a little nicer here in WI before I go out and try this.

Thanks! I never knew that about the MK4's. I guess this forum is giving me an eye for detail.. I've never really noticed before. Start telling people that its color bleed due to sheer G force during acceleration next time...lol ;)
